I understand that search because I've been on it myself.
For years I studied neuroscience, psychology, human behavior, spirituality, philosophy, and personal development, trying to understand why so many people felt disconnected—even when life appeared successful from the outside.
What I eventually discovered was surprisingly simple.
A spiritual practice isn't about doing more. It's about becoming more aware.
It's about intentionally creating space every day to reconnect with God, understand yourself more deeply, and live according to truth instead of fear.
The good news?
You don't need years of experience.
You don't need special knowledge.
And you don't need to be perfect.
You simply need to begin.
What Is a Spiritual Practice?
A spiritual practice is any intentional habit that helps you develop a deeper relationship with God, cultivate greater self-awareness, and live with more peace, wisdom, and purpose.
Notice what it isn't.
It's not about checking religious boxes.
It's not about impressing anyone.
It's not about appearing more spiritual than someone else.
It's about creating consistent moments where you stop reacting to the world long enough to reconnect with what matters most.
Just as your body becomes healthier through consistent physical exercise, your inner life becomes stronger through consistent spiritual practice.
Why Everyone Needs One
Modern life constantly pulls our attention outward.
Phones.
Social media.
News.
Work.
Stress.
Responsibilities.
Entertainment.
Opinions.
Notifications.
We're surrounded by noise.
Eventually, many people lose touch with themselves.
They become productive but not peaceful.
Busy but not fulfilled.
Successful but not connected.
A spiritual practice brings you back.
It reminds you who you are beneath your schedule, your fears, your achievements, and your circumstances.
Step 1: Begin With Stillness
If I could recommend only one place to start, it would be here.
Sit quietly for ten minutes.
No television.
No phone.
No music.
No distractions.
Simply breathe.
Slowly.
Deeply.
Don't try to force profound experiences.
Just become present.
Many people spend their entire lives surrounded by noise without ever hearing themselves think.
Stillness is where awareness begins.
Step 2: Practice Focused Breathing
Throughout my work I often recommend focused breathing because it's simple, accessible, and incredibly effective.
Close your eyes if you're comfortable.
Take a slow breath in through your nose.
Pause.
Exhale slowly.
Continue breathing naturally while keeping your attention on each breath.
When your mind wanders—and it will—simply notice it and gently return your attention to your breathing.
That's the practice.
Not perfection.
Presence.
Step 3: Begin Talking With God
Prayer doesn't have to sound impressive.
It doesn't require memorized words.
Some of the most meaningful prayers I've ever spoken were the simplest.
"God, help me understand."
"God, guide me."
"God, show me what I need to learn."
"God, give me wisdom."
Speak honestly.
Then spend time listening.
Prayer is not only speaking.
It's becoming quiet enough to receive.
Step 4: Pay Attention to Your Life
One of the greatest spiritual teachers is your own experience.
Pay attention to recurring patterns.
Repeated challenges.
Unexpected opportunities.
The people entering your life.
The doors opening.
The doors closing.
The questions that refuse to leave your mind.
Life often teaches through repetition.
The more aware you become, the more meaningful those patterns often become.
Step 5: Journal Every Day
Writing creates clarity.
After your quiet time, write down whatever comes to mind.
What are you grateful for?
What challenged you today?
What fears surfaced?
What lessons are repeating?
What do you believe God may be teaching you?
Don't worry about writing perfectly.
Write honestly.
Your journal becomes a mirror reflecting your own growth.
Step 6: Examine Your Programming
One of the biggest themes throughout my work is subconscious programming.
Many of the beliefs directing our lives were formed long before we consciously chose them.
Ask yourself:
Why do I believe this?
Where did this fear come from?
Is this belief actually true?
Is this helping me become the person I want to become?
Awareness is the first step toward freedom.
Step 7: Practice Love Daily
Spirituality isn't measured by knowledge.
It's measured by how we live.
Choose kindness.
Practice forgiveness.
Listen more carefully.
Judge less quickly.
Serve others.
Express gratitude.
Be patient.
The greatest spiritual practice is becoming more loving.
The Divine Algorithm
