Remember Who You Were Before the World Told You Who to Be

Overview

One of the most powerful questions I’ve ever asked myself wasn’t about success.

It wasn’t about money.

It wasn’t even about God.

It was this:

Who was I before the world told me who I should be?

I think that’s a question every one of us eventually faces.

Not because we’re broken.

Because somewhere along the journey of growing up, we all begin collecting labels.

The World Starts Programming Us Early

From the moment we’re born, the world begins teaching us who we are supposed to become.

Our parents shape us.

Schools shape us.

Friends shape us.

Religion shapes us.

Culture shapes us.

Social media shapes us.

Success shapes us.

Failure shapes us.

Most of this isn’t done with bad intentions.

It’s simply how human beings learn.

Every experience leaves an impression.

Every compliment reinforces an identity.

Every criticism can create a belief.

Little by little, we begin building a version of ourselves from the expectations of everyone around us.

Somewhere Along the Way…

Many people stop asking what they truly believe.

Instead, they start asking what everyone else expects them to believe.

They stop asking what excites them.

They ask what looks impressive.

They stop asking what feels true.

They ask what will earn approval.

It’s subtle.

It happens over years.

Until one day, you wake up and realize you’ve become incredibly successful at being someone other people recognize.

But you’re no longer sure you recognize yourself.

The Other 95%

One of the ideas I explore in The Other 95% is that much of our daily life runs on subconscious patterns.

Habits.

Beliefs.

Emotional responses.

Stories we’ve repeated so many times that they feel like facts.

Many of those patterns serve us well.

Some don’t.

The challenge isn’t that we’ve been programmed.

Every human being is.

The challenge is becoming aware enough to ask:

Which parts of my programming are actually mine?

Jesus Asked People to Look Within

One of the teachings of Jesus that has stayed with me more than almost any other is found in Luke 17:21:

“The Kingdom of God is within you.”

I’ve often wondered whether we’ve spent so much time searching everywhere else that we’ve forgotten to explore the one place He pointed.

Within.

Not because all the answers automatically appear.

But because that’s where honesty begins.

That’s where you stop performing.

That’s where you stop trying to become someone else.

That’s where you begin listening again.

Remembering Isn’t Going Back

When I say, “Remember who you were before the world told you who to be,” I don’t mean becoming a child again.

Life teaches us valuable lessons.

Experience matters.

Wisdom grows.

I mean remembering the part of you that existed before fear became louder than curiosity.

Before approval became more important than authenticity.

Before comparison stole your peace.

Before you believed your worth depended on your achievements.

Maybe the real journey isn’t becoming someone new.

Maybe it’s uncovering someone who has been there all along.

My Perspective

The reason I introduced the Divine Algorithm wasn’t because I believe people need another belief system.

It was because I believe many people have become disconnected from themselves.

We’ve accumulated so much noise that we’ve forgotten how to hear our own inner voice.

The Divine Algorithm is my exploration of what happens when science, consciousness, psychology, and spirituality stop competing and start asking the same question:

What if the greatest discoveries aren’t only waiting somewhere out there… but also within us?

I don’t believe awakening is becoming someone else.

I believe it’s remembering.

The Bottom Line

The world will always have opinions about who you should be.

It always has.

It always will.

But beneath every expectation…

Every label…

Every role…

Every success…

Every disappointment…

There is still a person capable of asking honest questions.

Still capable of growing.

Still capable of choosing.

Still capable of love.

Maybe that’s who you’ve been looking for all along.

So before you ask who you’re supposed to become…

Take a moment to remember who you were before the world told you who to be.

You may discover that the person you’ve been searching for has never actually been lost.

They’ve simply been waiting for you to come home.
