The Truman Show Feeling and NPCs: How to Discern What Is Real vs. Programmed Without Fear

Overview

Have you ever looked around and wondered if something feels… off?

Not because you believe the world is fake.

Not because you think people aren’t real.

But because so much of everyday life seems automatic.

The same conversations.

The same routines.

The same fears.

The same arguments.

The same endless cycle of working, consuming, reacting, sleeping, and starting over.

Many people have told me they feel like they’re living inside The Truman Show.

Others describe it as living inside a simulation.

Some use the term “NPCs” to describe people who seem to be running on autopilot.

I understand why those ideas resonate.

But I think they’re often pointing toward something much deeper than they first appear.

The Real Question Isn’t Whether the World Is Fake

The real question is this:

How much of our life is being lived consciously?

That question changes everything.

Modern neuroscience tells us that much of human behavior is automatic. Our brains rely on habits, learned patterns, and subconscious programming to conserve energy. We drive familiar roads without remembering every turn. We repeat phrases we’ve heard for years. We react before we’ve even realized we’ve made a choice.

In many ways, all of us spend parts of our lives on autopilot.

That doesn’t make us less human.

It simply reminds us that awareness is something we must intentionally cultivate.

Programming Is Real

One of the central ideas behind the Divine Algorithm—a framework I introduced in 2024—is that every one of us has been programmed.

Not by one person.

Not by one institution.

By life itself.

Parents.

Schools.

Religion.

Media.

Advertising.

Politics.

Culture.

Success.

Failure.

Trauma.

Praise.

Disappointment.

Every experience leaves an imprint.

The subconscious doesn’t stop to ask whether every message is true.

It asks whether it’s repeated.

Repeated patterns become familiar.

Familiar patterns become automatic.

Automatic patterns begin shaping our lives without us even noticing.

That’s the programming I’m interested in helping people become aware of.

Before Calling Someone an NPC

I’ve heard people describe others as “NPCs.”

Usually they mean someone who seems to repeat whatever they’ve been told without questioning it.

I understand the frustration behind the phrase.

But I’ve become increasingly cautious about using it.

Why?

Because the moment we stop seeing another person’s humanity, we’ve begun creating another form of separation.

Every person has a story.

Every person has wounds.

Every person has conditioning.

Every person has fears.

Just as you do.

The person who seems asleep today may become deeply aware tomorrow.

The person who appears completely certain may quietly be questioning everything inside.

You never know what another human being is carrying.

The Greatest Illusion Is Believing You’re Finished

One danger on any path of self-discovery is believing you’ve finally escaped all programming.

I don’t think any of us ever completely do.

Life continually reveals new blind spots.

New assumptions.

New attachments.

New fears.

The moment we believe everyone else is programmed while we alone see clearly…

We’ve probably discovered another program.

Humility protects us from that trap.

The goal isn’t becoming the person who thinks they’ve figured everything out.

The goal is becoming the person who remains teachable.

Fear Distorts Perception

I’ve noticed something over the years.

Fear makes everything appear more extreme.

When fear takes over, every coincidence becomes proof.

Every disagreement becomes an attack.

Every unfamiliar person becomes a threat.

Every unexpected event feels ominous.

Fear narrows awareness.

Love expands it.

One of the reasons I place such importance on nervous system regulation is because a regulated mind sees more clearly.

Not because it ignores reality.

Because it isn’t constantly reacting to it.

The Divine Algorithm Invites Observation Before Conclusion

One of the practices that has served me well is learning to observe before explaining.

Instead of immediately deciding what something means…

I watch.

I listen.

I become curious.

Sometimes my first interpretation turns out to be accurate.

Sometimes life reveals something completely different.

Curiosity has protected me from many unnecessary conclusions.

Truth doesn’t need to be rushed.

Reality Becomes Clearer as the Noise Settles

People often ask me how to know what’s real.

I don’t think the answer begins by looking harder at the outside world.

I think it begins by becoming quieter within.

When fear settles…

When constant distraction decreases…

When the nervous system becomes more regulated…

When we’re honest with ourselves…

Something interesting happens.

Discernment naturally improves.

Not because we’ve gained secret knowledge.

Because we’ve removed some of the interference.

It’s difficult to hear a whisper inside a crowded stadium.

The whisper didn’t disappear.

The noise simply became louder than the signal.

Live With Both Wonder and Wisdom

I believe it’s healthy to remain open to mystery.

Life is remarkable.

Consciousness is remarkable.

The universe is filled with questions we’re still exploring.

But openness should always be accompanied by wisdom.

Wonder without discernment can become gullibility.

Discernment without wonder can become cynicism.

The healthiest path holds both.

Remain curious enough to explore.

Remain grounded enough not to believe everything you hear—including your own first impressions.

The Kingdom Within Is More Important Than Escaping the Matrix

People often ask me how to escape the Matrix.

I usually answer differently than they expect.

The deepest prison isn’t necessarily the world around you.

It’s unconscious living.

It’s reacting without awareness.

It’s allowing fear to make your decisions.

It’s repeating inherited programs without ever asking whether they’re true.

That’s the Matrix I believe Jesus continually invited people beyond.

He didn’t point toward escaping the world.

He pointed toward awakening within it.

“The Kingdom of God is within you.”

Those words have profound implications.

They suggest that the greatest freedom isn’t found by proving the world is fake.

It’s found by becoming fully present within the life you’ve already been given.

When that begins happening, something beautiful changes.

You stop obsessing over whether everyone else is awake.

You become more interested in living consciously yourself.

You stop judging people for where they are.

You begin meeting them with compassion.

You stop chasing certainty.

You begin trusting discernment.

And perhaps most importantly…

You discover that the greatest escape was never from the world.

It was from the unconscious programming that kept you from fully experiencing it.

The Divine Algorithm isn’t about rejecting reality.

It’s about learning to experience reality with greater awareness, greater wisdom, and greater love.

Because in the end, the opposite of programming isn’t superiority.

It’s presence.

And presence has a remarkable way of revealing what has been real all along.
