Why Over-Reliance on External Algorithms Weakens Your Connection to the Divine Algorithm

Overview

Whether we realize it or not, algorithms are quietly shaping almost every part of modern life.

They decide what appears in your social media feed.

They recommend the next video you watch.

They influence the news you see.

They suggest what to buy.

What music to listen to.

What route to drive.

Who to date.

What products to purchase.

Even many of the conversations we have are influenced by invisible systems designed to predict what will keep our attention the longest.

Most people don’t think about this very often.

But I do.

Because I believe one of the greatest questions of our time isn’t whether algorithms are becoming more powerful.

It’s whether we’re becoming more dependent on them than we realize.

The more I study neuroscience, information theory, and human behavior, the more convinced I become that humanity is standing at a crossroads.

Not between technology and spirituality.

Between unconscious dependence and conscious discernment.

We Have Always Followed Algorithms

Long before computers existed, human beings followed patterns.

Habits.

Routines.

Cultural expectations.

Family traditions.

Religious customs.

Social norms.

In many ways, these were algorithms too.

Repeated inputs producing predictable outputs.

Technology simply made those systems faster, more personalized, and far more difficult to notice.

Today’s algorithms don’t just respond to our behavior.

They actively learn from it.

Then they encourage more of it.

That’s incredibly powerful.

Every Algorithm Has an Objective

One thing I’ve learned from studying both technology and human behavior is this.

Every algorithm is optimized for something.

Some optimize for engagement.

Some for profit.

Some for efficiency.

Some for entertainment.

Some for personalization.

None of those objectives are inherently good or bad.

But it’s important to ask a simple question.

What is this system trying to maximize?

Because whatever it maximizes will gradually shape your attention.

And wherever your attention goes…

Your life eventually follows.

Attention Is the Gateway to Your Consciousness

Perhaps the most valuable resource you possess isn’t your time.

It’s your attention.

Your attention determines what enters your subconscious.

What repeatedly occupies your thoughts begins influencing your emotions.

Your emotions influence your decisions.

Your decisions become your habits.

Your habits quietly become your character.

That’s why protecting your attention is one of the greatest responsibilities you’ll ever have.

Not because the world is evil.

Because your mind is always learning.

The Divine Algorithm Cannot Be Reduced to Data

One of the central ideas behind the Divine Algorithm—a framework I introduced in 2024—is that every human being possesses an innate capacity for awareness, discernment, compassion, creativity, and inner knowing that cannot be fully explained—or replaced—by external systems.

The Divine Algorithm isn’t predicting your behavior.

It isn’t optimizing for engagement.

It isn’t trying to hold your attention.

It quietly invites alignment.

Alignment with truth.

Alignment with love.

Alignment with wisdom.

Alignment with your deepest values.

That invitation cannot be forced.

It must be chosen.

Convenience Can Quietly Become Dependence

Technology is extraordinary.

I use it every day.

Artificial intelligence helps me organize ideas.

Maps help me travel.

Calendars help me remember.

Search engines help me learn.

None of those are the problem.

The problem begins when we slowly stop exercising the abilities those tools were designed to support.

When we never pause to think because a search engine always will.

When we never reflect because someone else has already summarized everything.

When we stop trusting our own observations because an algorithm always offers another opinion.

Convenience becomes dependence so gradually that we often don’t notice it happening.

Your Inner Compass Grows Through Use

Imagine never walking because someone always carried you.

Your muscles would weaken.

The same principle applies to discernment.

Your inner guidance grows stronger when you practice listening.

Making decisions.

Reflecting.

Observing.

Learning from mistakes.

Taking responsibility.

If someone else always decides for you, those abilities slowly become underdeveloped.

Not because you’ve lost them.

Because you’ve stopped using them.

Information Without Reflection Creates Noise

One of the greatest challenges of modern life isn’t a shortage of answers.

It’s a shortage of reflection.

We consume.

Scroll.

Watch.

Listen.

Read.

Repeat.

Very few people stop long enough to ask:

“What do I actually think?”

“What have I experienced?”

“What resonates as true in my own life?”

“What evidence supports this?”

“What evidence challenges it?”

Reflection transforms information into wisdom.

Without reflection, information often becomes noise.

Technology Should Expand Humanity, Not Replace It

I’ve never believed technology is the enemy.

Fear is.

Technology should help us become more creative.

More connected.

More informed.

More compassionate.

More capable.

If it gradually makes us less curious…

Less present…

Less thoughtful…

Less connected to one another…

Then we’ve begun using extraordinary tools in ordinary ways.

The problem isn’t the technology.

It’s forgetting who should remain in charge.

Returning to the One Within

One of the most valuable habits I’ve developed is intentionally creating moments where no algorithm influences my attention.

Walking in nature without headphones.

Watching the sunrise.

Praying.

Breathing.

Reading slowly.

Writing by hand.

Sitting in silence.

Listening.

Not because silence contains magical answers.

Because silence allows me to notice what constant stimulation often drowns out.

The quiet guidance that has patiently waited beneath the noise.

The Kingdom Within Has Never Needed an Algorithm

Jesus said,

“The Kingdom of God is within you.”

Those words become increasingly meaningful as technology continues advancing.

Every year the world becomes better at predicting your behavior.

Better at capturing your attention.

Better at influencing your choices.

Yet none of those systems can replace your ability to become aware.

To love.

To forgive.

To discern.

To choose.

The future will almost certainly include more powerful algorithms than we can currently imagine.

I welcome much of that progress.

But I also believe something even more important.

The more sophisticated external algorithms become, the more intentionally we must cultivate our internal one.

The Divine Algorithm isn’t competing with artificial intelligence.

It isn’t competing with social media.

It isn’t competing with technology.

It simply waits.

Patiently.

Quietly.

Inviting you to remember that no recommendation engine can tell you your purpose.

No search engine can define your character.

No artificial intelligence can live your life.

Those choices remain beautifully, wonderfully yours.

Use every tool available.

Learn continuously.

Embrace innovation.

But never allow convenience to replace consciousness.

Because the greatest algorithm you’ll ever learn to follow isn’t the one predicting what you’ll click next.

It’s the one inviting you, moment by moment, to become more present, more honest, more compassionate, and more aligned with the wisdom that has quietly lived within you from the very beginning.
