Truth doesn’t need to reinvent itself.

A lie usually does.

Lies Must Be Maintained

The difficult thing about deception is that it rarely ends with a single lie.

One lie often demands another.

Then another.

Then another.

Eventually, the person telling the lie isn’t simply remembering what happened.

They’re trying to remember which version they told to whom.

The story becomes increasingly complicated because it isn’t anchored to reality.

Truth doesn’t have that problem.

Truth simply is.

Reality Doesn’t Change to Protect Our Stories

One of the remarkable things about reality is that it doesn’t need our permission to remain true.

We can deny it.

Ignore it.

Argue with it.

Redefine it.

But reality isn’t changed simply because we wish it were different.

Truth has a quiet stability.

It doesn’t need constant defending.

It waits patiently to be discovered.

We Can Even Lie to Ourselves

The most convincing lies are often not the ones other people tell us.

They’re the ones we tell ourselves.

“I’m fine.”

“It doesn’t bother me.”

“I’ll change someday.”

“This isn’t hurting anyone.”

“I don’t need to forgive.”

We repeat these stories so often that they begin to feel true.

Until life gently—or sometimes painfully—reveals otherwise.

Honesty begins the moment we’re willing to question the stories we’ve been protecting.

The Divine Algorithm and Discernment

One of the reasons I introduced The Divine Algorithm is because I believe discernment is one of the most important qualities we can develop.

Not cynicism.

Not blind belief.

Discernment.

Discernment asks:

Is this true?

Not…

Do I want it to be true?

Or…

Does everyone else believe it’s true?

Truth doesn’t become more true because it’s popular.

And it doesn’t become less true because it’s unpopular.

Our responsibility is to seek it with humility.

Truth Simplifies

I’ve noticed something interesting.

When people are living honestly, life often becomes simpler.

Not easier.

Simpler.

There’s less pretending.

Less hiding.

Less anxiety about being discovered.

Less energy spent maintaining an image.

Integrity brings a quiet kind of freedom.

The truth may sometimes be difficult to face.

But it doesn’t require us to remember different versions of ourselves.

The Courage to Welcome Truth

Sometimes truth confirms what we already believed.

Sometimes it completely reshapes us.

Either way, it’s a gift.

Because every truth we discover removes another illusion that was keeping us from seeing reality clearly.

Growth has always begun there.

Not with certainty.

But with honesty.

Seek What Doesn’t Need Constant Revision

The older I get, the less interested I become in winning arguments.

I’m more interested in discovering what remains true regardless of who is speaking.

Ideas come and go.

Opinions change.

Cultures shift.

But truth has a remarkable way of remaining itself.

Perhaps that’s why lies have so many variations.

They’re constantly trying to keep up with reality.

Truth never has to.

It simply waits.

And eventually, those who are willing to look with honest eyes find that it was there all along.
