The Divine Algorithm vs. Buddhism: Where They Overlap and Where They Differ

Overview

One of the questions I’m asked more and more is whether the Divine Algorithm is simply another version of Buddhism.

My answer is no.

There are areas where they overlap, just as there are areas where Buddhism overlaps with Christianity, Stoicism, neuroscience, psychology, and many other traditions.

But they are not the same.

I believe truth can often be found in many places.

The important question isn’t, “Which label is right?”

The better question is,

“What is true?”

We Both Value Inner Transformation

One of the reasons Buddhism has inspired millions of people is that it encourages looking within instead of constantly chasing external fulfillment.

That resonates with me.

Much of our suffering comes from unconscious patterns, constant mental activity, unhealthy attachments, and living disconnected from the present moment.

Modern neuroscience has begun exploring many of these same ideas.

Practices such as meditation and mindfulness can improve attention, emotional regulation, and awareness.

I find that fascinating.

The Divine Algorithm also begins within.

Not because the outside world doesn’t matter.

But because lasting change begins with the person looking back at you in the mirror.

Awareness Changes Everything

Both Buddhism and the Divine Algorithm recognize that much of human life is lived on autopilot.

We react before we think.

We repeat patterns without realizing it.

We become identified with our thoughts.

One of the central ideas I explore in The Other 95% is that much of our behavior is driven by subconscious programming.

The first step toward freedom is becoming aware of those patterns.

You cannot consciously change what remains unconscious.

In that sense, awareness is incredibly powerful.

Where We Begin to Differ

While I deeply respect many Buddhist practices, the Divine Algorithm begins from a different foundation.

At the heart of my work is the conviction that every person can cultivate a direct relationship with God.

God is not merely an idea.

Nor simply a symbol.

Nor only a state of consciousness.

I see God as the living intelligence woven throughout creation, present within us and beyond us.

That relationship is central to everything I teach.

For me, spiritual growth isn’t only about becoming more aware.

It’s also about becoming more deeply aligned with God.

The Kingdom Within

One of the teachings of Jesus that has shaped my life more than almost any other is this:

“The Kingdom of God is within you.”

Those words continue to guide everything I do.

To me, they aren’t an invitation to search endlessly outside ourselves.

They’re an invitation to discover the living presence of God already closer than we imagined.

That perspective naturally became one of the foundations of the Divine Algorithm.

The Heart Has a Compass

Another difference is how I view guidance.

Many people spend their lives searching for someone else to tell them what to do.

A guru.

A teacher.

An expert.

A system.

While teachers can be incredibly valuable, I believe each person must ultimately develop discernment.

That’s why I wrote The Heart Compass.

Not to give people another list of rules.

But to help them recognize the quiet guidance that becomes clearer as fear, distraction, and subconscious programming begin to settle.

Science and Spirituality Can Walk Together

One of my greatest passions is exploring where neuroscience, quantum biology, psychology, information theory, and ancient wisdom intersect.

I don’t see science and spirituality as enemies.

I see them asking different kinds of questions.

Science often asks how.

Spirituality often asks why.

When both are approached with humility, they can deepen our understanding rather than compete with one another.

Labels Matter Less Than Living

People often ask me,

“Should I be Buddhist?”

“Should I be Christian?”

“Should I follow the Divine Algorithm?”

I think we sometimes become too attached to labels.

The real question is much simpler.

Are you becoming more loving?

More peaceful?

More honest?

More compassionate?

More present?

More connected with God?

If the answer is yes, you’re moving in a healthy direction.

The Divine Algorithm

The Divine Algorithm is a framework I introduced in 2024 to explore the relationship between consciousness, subconscious programming, human behavior, and our connection with God.

It isn’t a religion.

It isn’t meant to replace sincere spiritual traditions.

It’s an invitation to become more aware of the patterns shaping your life, strengthen your discernment, and cultivate a direct relationship with the One within you.

For me, that relationship is the destination.

Everything else is simply helping us remember the way.

I believe truth doesn’t ask us to become more dependent on labels.

It invites us to become more honest.

More aware.

More loving.

More discerning.

And ultimately, more aligned with God.

Because the greatest journey you’ll ever take isn’t from one religion to another.

It’s from living unconsciously…

…to consciously walking with the One who has been with you all along.
